Saving water is always in season!

Santa Fe is a high desert city with an annual precipitation that’s highly variable from year to year. Long ago, our community collectively agreed to embody a waterwise lifestyle to help ensure that we secure a reliable water supply for the future. Residents and visitors alike are always encouraged to make every drop count!

The City Water Conservation Office is a WaterSense partner.

Save Water Santa Fe is the official online hub for the City of Santa Fe Water Conservation Office.

Established in 1997, the Water Conservation Office is recognized nationally for its innovative water conservation efforts. The Water Conservation Program has paved the way for a water-wise city, resulting in a community committed to continually reducing its annual water consumption. The Water Conservation Office remains dedicated to establishing programs that encourage and incentivize residential and commercial customers to save water and educate youth about the importance of water conservation.

In 2025, the Water Conservation Office was moved from the Water Division into the newly created Conservation & Sustainability Division – both divisions are within the Public Utilities Department. Formerly known as @savewatersantafe on social media, its social media presence now falls under the larger @sustainablesantafe umbrella.
